I've been thinking lately how I need to work on stash busting and after sorting lots of smaller pieces I decided on a zip purse. You know, to carry the important stuff around like nappies and wipes. Ahem.
The fabric is hand-printed by Melbourne girls Ink & Spindle and has been sitting in my stash for too long. I didn't want to cut it up, hence the looooong shape of the purse to show it off. The lining is Amy Butler fabric my American friend sent me 4 years ago. Shame on me.
Everything was from the stash, even the op shop zip which matched perfectly.
In other news, I've entered into the world of Kinder - school bags, lunches and snacks, drop offs, pick ups and that includes the two younger siblings tagging along too. I am pleased to brag that we have been early every day. Go me!
Funny how the more children you have, the better at time management you become.

Love the purse - such a great idea!

DeleteThat's the tallest zip pouch I've ever seen! :) Besutiful fabric, I had a piece of this one, but it's long gone now. The lining is a nice one too.
ReplyDeleteHehe, yes I know, it's ridiculously long but I just couldn't bring myself to cut up the print into little pieces!
DeleteVery useful and you kept the print intact! A double win! So, let me get this straight... If I have more kids I'll be more organised? Ace!
ReplyDeleteTOTALLY! When I just had the one, I was late to pretty much everything. My theory is the less kids you have, the more time you have which means you are likely to put things off for later because you'll have time again. But when you have more kids it means LESS time so you learn to get things done right when you have that free moment because it's highly unlikely you'll have spare time again. I could obviously go on and on about this but basically, I've learnt to be more organised with each child plus I delegate jobs to the kids too. Phew, novel over. ;)
DeleteThat's great about the zipper being a perfect match; I love when that happens. And I totally agree about more kids = more organized! After I had my first I called my sister in tears because it was so hard and she said "it gets easier when you have more than one." And I thought, is she crazy? But she was right - you are too busy to think about how tired you are, and it's easier to stay on a routine and schedule.
ReplyDeleteYes agree! And you just don't waste as much time worrying about the small stuff, or bringing every little thing imaginable for one child. Remember having one child and you'd take a huge nappy bag full of stuff around JUST IN CASE? By the second and third child I was lucky if I had a spare nappy & wipes on me or in the car. hehe, good times yeah. ;)
Deleteoh, that is gorgeous fabric! I love the two of them together. I don't think you need to be ashamed at all of having fabric in your stash for 4 years :)
ReplyDeletethanks Margo... I won't feel AS ashamed of my stash hoarding then. ;)
